Professional Studio
for Recording

The 3m x 4.7m acoustically designed studio is ideally suited for voice recording, tracking acoustic and DI’d instruments and music mixing. Room acoustics are controlled by materials integral to the studio’s design.

The resulting transparency is a breath of fresh air, creating a highly focused and balanced sound for recording, with faithful sound reproduction enabling critical listening and ‘quality-control’ of audio.

Soundproofing, natural daylight and ventilation maintain a sense of connection to the outside world, which provides an energising environment and keeps creative minds focused.

Recordings are warm, dry and not coloured by the sound of the room. This enables maximum flexibility for adding spatial effects during the mix.

A ‘close miked’ sound can be achieved with microphones placed at a greater distance from the source than usual, which allows the full tone of a voice or instrument to be captured.

Active Monitoring

Playback is switchable between flush mounted Neumann 3-way main monitors, with a smooth frequency response down to 34 Hz and Avantone’s cunning MixCube monitors, which provide a focused inspection of critical midrange frequencies that make up the body of a recording. Stereo imaging in both cases is pin sharp, with high levels of detail, depth and clarity. Audio is not smeared by chattering internal reflections or unruly bass frequencies.

A bespoke baltic birch plywood desk houses the studio’s equipment and patch panel, enabling fast equipment connections, creative signal flow and easy connectivity of external equipment via standard 1/4” jacks. Visiting musicians can quickly and easily patch in their own equipment to the recording chain.

Industry standard microphones from AKG, Shure, Sennheiser & Beyerdynamic are available for recording tasks.

Vocalists benefit from an iso-screen which creates a sense of privacy, without the claustrophobia of a vocal booth.

For keyboard players, an 88-note weighted MIDI controller keyboard aids expressive playing of the studio’s synths and virtual instruments. Acoustic, electric and bass guitars are also available for recording.

The Studio’s 27” iMac, Focusrite Clarett interface and Logic Pro X recording software combine to offer a highly capable ‘in the box’ production environment. Sound sources can also be tracked or mixed through the studio’s vintage Soundtracs Topaz analogue mixing desk
